Welcome back to Ringside Reflections. In our first post since Night of Champions, much has happened in the WWE.
Four new champions were crowned this past Sunday. Let's get to those results.
Dolph Ziggler defeated Kofi Kingston to retain the Intercontinental title.
As predicted, Dolph was able to keep the title with the help of Vickie Guerrero.
Big Show defeated CM Punk
I was surprised to see Big Show go over CM Punk, but it seems that these days Punk is just a mid card bad guy. The Straight Edge Society seems to be falling apart, but I believe this can only mean good things for CM Punk.
Daniel Bryan defeats the Miz for the United States Championship
I was very surprised and very excited at the same time to see Daniel Bryan win the US Title s soon after his surprise return. I expected the Miz to get the better of him for a few months before Bryan inevitably won the gold. Nevertheless, he beat the Miz in a solid match to continue this intense feud into the coming months.
Michelle McCool beat Melina to unify the Women's and Divas Titles
There is now only one true female champion in WWE. Michelle McCool now owns both titles after beating Melina in a Lumberjill match with the help of her partner Layla.
Kane defeats Undertaker to retain his World Heavyweight Championship
In the first World title match, Smackdown's Brothers of Destruction battled it out in a No Holds Barred encounter for the gold. Kane dominates his elder brother to propel the obvious rematch into Hell in a Cell.
Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes win the WWE Tag Team Championships in a Tag Team Turmoil Match
As teased, there are new tag champs when the makeshift team of McIntyre and Rhodes defeated four other teams to secure the oddly shaped belts. The Hart Dynasty lost in the beginning of the contest to guarantee new champions. On a positive note, this means they may now appear on both Smackdown and Raw to defend the gold.
Randy Orton became the new WWE Champion in a Six Pack Challenge Match
The super popular Randy Orton has once again become WWE Champion for the first time in almost a year. He last defeated defending champion Sheamus to win the gold for the sixth time. Smart move on WWE's part as Orton is the hottest thing going right now.
Overall, another average PPV from the WWE. Interistingly, Hell In a Cell, the WWE's next PPV, comes just two weeks after this one, the shortest gap of time between two PPVs ever. We'll of course be covering that one as well.
While I obviously didn't fare too well in predictions, I at least got the most important matches correct. Of course, several other developments are currently breaking after this show as well. We'll be back later with some more news and notes.
