News and Notes - Mickie James, X Division Title, Hart, Gonzales, Paul Bearer Lives!

Back again with trending topics!

Of course, the current talk of the town in the wrestling world at the moment is the surprise return of Paul Bearer to Smackdown this past Friday. The last time we saw him was at the Great American Bash 2004, in which the Undertaker killed him off by burying him in the concrete crypt, at the time ending his legendary run in pro wrestling. I am personally thrilled to see this man back and involved once again with the Undertaker and Kane feud over a decade after he made it famous. Welcome back Paul Bearer!

Mickie James has reportedly signed with TNA. This is no surprise to attentive fans of the former Women's Champion, as she has been rumored to have been joining the company ever since her release this past April. We'll see what the future has in store for this great lady wrestler.

Apparently, before this past weekend, Giant Gonzales was still alive. Personally, I thought he died years ago, but it appears he was living in seclusion back in his native Argentina, confined to a wheelchair. Nevertheless, he has succumbed to his illness at the young age of 44. Fans will remember Gonzales most famously for his match with the Undertaker at WrestleMania IX, as well as his gigantic size and hairy body suit.

The Amazing Red won TNA's X Division Title at a house show in Brooklyn this past weekend, only to lose it back to former champion Jay Lethal two nights later in New Jersey. We'll see if this title change is ever acknowledged on TV.

This past Saturday WWE returned to MSG for "Bret Hart Appreciation Night." It was the Hitman's first time back at the Garden since he left WWE 13 years ago. While I did not attend personally, those that did have noted what a great performance the Hall of Famer was able to put on when he teamed with Hart Dynasty to take on Nexus. Thank you Bret!

That's what's going on right now. We'll be covering more stories this week, including the apparent future of Chris Jericho, his awesome new DVD, and THQ's upcoming edition of the yearly Smackdown vs Raw franchise, of which I have played every game and am a huge fan of. Stay tuned!
